December Maintenance: Protecting Your Timber Home from Rain
We all know the Irish winter is wet. While our Nordic pine is incredibly durable, a little maintenance goes a long way to keeping your cabin looking brand new.
3 Tips for December
- Check Your Gutters: Leaves fall in November. Now is the time to clear gutters to prevent water overflow splashing onto the wood walls.
- Ventilation: Don't seal the room completely shut. Timber needs to breathe. Keep trickle vents open to prevent condensation inside.
- Splash Zone: Ensure soil or mulch isn't piled up against the bottom logs. Keep a gap to let the base dry out.
A well-maintained timber home can last for generations!
