Preparing Your Site for a Timber Cabin: Summer 2026 Checklist

7 July 2026 By Krzysztof
Prepared garden site with a newly installed timber cabin

July and August are our busiest installation months in Ireland — long days and drier ground make summer the perfect window for a timber cabin build. A little preparation before our crew arrives saves days on site. Here's what to check.

1. The Base

A level, load-bearing foundation is the single most important factor in a smooth installation. Depending on the model, we recommend a concrete slab, ground screws or a raft foundation. We'll specify the right one for your cabin and soil conditions.

2. Access

Panels arrive by lorry, so measure your access route: gates, side passages and overhead cables. Even tight urban gardens in Dublin are usually workable — we just need to know in advance to plan the delivery.

3. Services

If your cabin will have electricity, water or drainage, plan the routes before the base is poured. Ducting installed early is far cheaper than trenching later.

4. Boundaries & Neighbours

Confirm your boundary lines and, if the cabin sits close to a fence, let your neighbours know the assembly dates. Most builds are finished before they've noticed the scaffolding.
