You've chosen the model and picked the spot — now for the unglamorous details that decide whether your garden office actually works: data, power and paperwork.
Broadband That Doesn't Drop
Wi-Fi through two walls and thirty metres of garden is a gamble. The reliable options: an outdoor-rated ethernet cable run in the same trench as the power supply, or a point-to-point wireless bridge between house and office. Both deliver full speed for video calls.
Power Done Properly
A garden office needs its own circuit from the consumer unit, installed by a registered electrician — never an extension lead through the window. Plan sockets generously and add external lighting while the trench is open. We pre-plan cable routes during the assembly stage.
Insurance and Paperwork
- Tell your home insurer: Garden structures usually need to be listed to be covered.
- Business equipment: Check whether your policy covers work laptops and monitors in an outbuilding.
