Timber Cabins & Garden Rooms in Donegal
Insulated Nordic timber cabins from €14,500 incl. VAT, with delivery, professional assembly and a 10-year structural warranty.
Donegal is the furthest we travel and the most exposed county we build in. The combination of Atlantic wind, driven rain and salt on the northern and western coasts is as demanding as Irish conditions get, and we would rather have a long conversation about specification before you order than a short one after the first winter.
It is also a county where timber makes obvious sense. Sites are large, the building tradition is used to weather, and a manufactured cabin with a fixed price and a short build is a sensible answer a long way from the main contracting centres. Transport is included even at this distance, and the crew travels with the materials.

Delivery, access and ground conditions
Letterkenny is roughly 240 km from our Dublin yard, around three hours by road, and the far north and west of the county add to that. Transport is included in the price.
This is the most wind-exposed county we work in. Orientation and fixing specification matter more here than anywhere, and large glazing has to be placed with the prevailing wind in mind, not only the view.
Wind-driven rain and salt together are what test a finish. Expect the shortest recoating cycle of any county, and keep gutters and fixings rinsed and clear.
Bog and peat ground is widespread. Rock gives an excellent base; peat needs a proper foundation design settled before anything is ordered.
Distances within Donegal are long and some coastal roads are narrow. We plan the route in advance and, where needed, transfer to a smaller vehicle for the last stretch.
What people in Donegal build
Holiday cabins and letting units
Bundoran, Inishowen and the Wild Atlantic Way coast support a real letting season. Insulation and ventilation are what let a cabin earn outside the summer months.
Family accommodation on home sites
A detached auxiliary dwelling of 32–45 m² to the rear of the main house can fall inside the exemption introduced in July 2026, with 14 days' notice to the council.
Garden rooms and workshops
Offices, studios and workshops inside the 30 m² garden-structure exemption — specified for Donegal exposure rather than a sheltered inland garden.
Models we recommend in Donegal
Every price includes delivery to your Donegal site, assembly by our own crew and a 10-year structural warranty.
Planning permission in Donegal
The planning exemptions are national, not local. Since 27 July 2026 a back-garden structure such as a home office, studio, gym or store can be exempt from planning permission up to 30 m² (previously 25 m²), and a detached auxiliary dwelling of 32–45m² to the rear of the main house, connected to its services, can be exempt with 14 days’ notice to the council.
What does change locally is everything around the size limit: zoning, scenic and conservation designations, protected structures and the conditions on siting and remaining open space. That makes your local authority the only reliable answer for your specific site:
