Timber Cabins & Garden Rooms in Cork
Insulated Nordic timber cabins from €14,500 incl. VAT, with delivery, professional assembly and a 10-year structural warranty.
Cork is the largest county in Ireland and we treat it as several different jobs rather than one. A garden room in Ballincollig or Carrigaline is a straightforward suburban install; a holiday cabin on an exposed site in West Cork needs a conversation about wind, salt and access before anything is ordered. Delivery and assembly are included in the price either way — the difference is in the preparation, not the invoice.
Cork also gives us our widest spread of uses: garden offices in the city suburbs, granny flats on family sites in the county, and holiday cabins along the coast from Kinsale down to Clonakilty and Youghal. The Cork Weekend Cabin in our range is named for exactly that kind of brief.

Delivery, access and ground conditions
Cork is about 255 km from our Dublin yard, roughly three hours by road. Transport is included in the price and the crew travels with the materials.
West Cork and the harbour coastline are salt-laden and exposed. Exterior finishes need a shorter recoating cycle there than on an inland site, and we say so before you buy rather than afterwards.
Rural Cork sites are often generous on space but awkward on access — long farm lanes, soft verges and gateposts. A photo of the approach and the gate width tells us most of what we need.
Sloping ground is common in the county. The foundation blocks included with every cabin assume a reasonably level base, so levelling is quoted separately when the fall is significant.
Overhanging mature trees cause more long-term problems than weather does: constant shade and leaf fall keep timber damp. We will usually ask you to move the cabin a few metres rather than take the risk.
What people in Cork build
Holiday cabins on the West Cork coast
Short-term letting is a real business in Kinsale, Clonakilty and along the coast road. A two-bedroom cabin with a terrace is the usual choice, and letting in Ireland comes with its own registration rules that are worth reading before you order.
Granny flats on family sites
Cork sites are often big enough for a detached auxiliary dwelling to the rear of the main house, which since July 2026 can fall inside a 32–45 m² exemption with notice to the council. Several of our models sit inside that range.
Garden offices in the city suburbs
Ballincollig, Douglas and Carrigaline behave much like Dublin suburbs: insulated garden rooms of 20–25 m² used as offices and studios, built inside the garden-room exemption.
Models we recommend in Cork
Every price includes delivery to your Cork site, assembly by our own crew and a 10-year structural warranty.
Planning permission in Cork
The planning exemptions are national, not local. Since 27 July 2026 a back-garden structure such as a home office, studio, gym or store can be exempt from planning permission up to 30 m² (previously 25 m²), and a detached auxiliary dwelling of 32–45m² to the rear of the main house, connected to its services, can be exempt with 14 days’ notice to the council.
What does change locally is everything around the size limit: zoning, scenic and conservation designations, protected structures and the conditions on siting and remaining open space. That makes your local authority the only reliable answer for your specific site:
Exemption figures last reviewed 18 September 2026. Source: South Dublin County Council — New Exemptions 27.07.26. This is general information, not legal advice — always confirm with your local authority or a planning professional before ordering.
