Timber Cabins & Garden Rooms in Wicklow
Insulated Nordic timber cabins from €14,500 incl. VAT, with delivery, professional assembly and a 10-year structural warranty.
Wicklow is the county where a timber building looks most at home and the ground gives us most to think about. The Garden of Ireland is hilly, wooded and in places genuinely steep, so the first question on a Wicklow site is almost always about levels rather than about the cabin itself. Once the base is right, the rest is routine — and we named one of our three-bedroom models after the county.
The coastal strip from Bray through Greystones to Wicklow town and Arklow is commuter country with mature gardens; inland around Blessington, Enniskerry and Rathdrum the sites are larger, more sloped and more often wooded. Both are inside an hour of our Dublin yard.

Delivery, access and ground conditions
North Wicklow is 45 minutes from our Dublin 12 yard and the far south of the county under 90 minutes, so assembly is scheduled as a single visit.
Sloping ground is the defining Wicklow issue. The foundation blocks supplied with every cabin assume a reasonably level base, so cut-and-fill or a stepped base is usually quoted separately once we have seen the fall.
Mature trees are the second issue. Permanent shade and leaf fall keep timber damp and shorten the life of a finish — we would rather reposition the cabin than fight it.
Hillside and upland sites can be surprisingly windy despite feeling sheltered, and need the exposed-site fixing specification.
Much of the county is in scenic amenity and conservation designations. Even where size would be exempt, these designations can change what is allowed, so check with the council first.
What people in Wicklow build
Garden rooms and offices on the coast
Bray, Greystones and Delgany gardens are mature and often deep enough for a full 30 m² room used as an office, studio or gym.
Family homes on sloped sites
Our larger models suit Wicklow's rural plots, with the foundation design set after we have seen the levels. Above the exemption sizes, planning permission applies and we supply the drawings.
Guest cabins and retreats
Walkers and weekenders make Wicklow a short-break county. A compact cabin works as guest accommodation or a letting unit, subject to the registration rules.
Models we recommend in Wicklow
Every price includes delivery to your Wicklow site, assembly by our own crew and a 10-year structural warranty.
Planning permission in Wicklow
The planning exemptions are national, not local. Since 27 July 2026 a back-garden structure such as a home office, studio, gym or store can be exempt from planning permission up to 30 m² (previously 25 m²), and a detached auxiliary dwelling of 32–45m² to the rear of the main house, connected to its services, can be exempt with 14 days’ notice to the council.
What does change locally is everything around the size limit: zoning, scenic and conservation designations, protected structures and the conditions on siting and remaining open space. That makes your local authority the only reliable answer for your specific site:
Exemption figures last reviewed 18 September 2026. Source: South Dublin County Council — New Exemptions 27.07.26. This is general information, not legal advice — always confirm with your local authority or a planning professional before ordering.
