Gardens in Wicklow and Wexford are rarely flat or simple. Think of a hillside plot outside Greystones, a long rural site near Gorey or a house within sight of the sea at Wexford town. These are lovely places to add a timber garden room or garden office, but the site itself shapes the build, so it pays to plan with it in mind.
Sloping Gardens Need a Smart Base
A timber cabin must sit on a level, stable base. On a slope this usually means a levelled area, a stepped foundation or a raised platform on piers. Drainage matters just as much: water must run away from the cabin, not toward it. A short site review is the best way to decide on the right base before any panels are made.
Coastal Air and Wet Winters
Wexford and east Wicklow get salt-laden wind and plenty of damp. Good ventilation, a raised floor and well-sealed joints keep a timber room healthy through the winter, and regular checks of seals and gutters help it last for decades. Our factory-prepared timber panels are well suited to these conditions.
Access for Rural and Narrow Sites
- Delivery route: check gate width, lane access and overhead cables.
- Panel assembly: prefabricated parts are carried in by hand where a crane cannot reach.
- Electrics: installed and certified by our partner electrical contractor and quoted separately after a site review.
- Planning: back-garden structures such as garden rooms and home offices are exempt up to 30 m², subject to conditions. Always confirm with Wicklow or Wexford County Council before you order.
