Dublin is where we started in 1985 and still where we deliver most garden rooms. City gardens are usually smaller than rural ones, though, so a Dublin garden room needs a little more planning to feel generous rather than cramped.
What Makes Dublin Gardens Different
Many terraced and semi-detached homes have a back garden of only a few metres depth, with neighbours on both sides and access through a narrow side passage or even through the house. Older red-brick areas can have rear lanes that make delivery easier. Newer estates often have a level lawn but tight boundaries. Each of these shapes the size, position and delivery method of the cabin.
Planning a Dublin Garden Room
- Start with the exemption: Since 27 July 2026, a garden room, home office or gym of up to 30 m² behind the house can be exempt development. Conditions apply, so confirm with Dublin City, Fingal, South Dublin or Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown council before you order.
- Keep a usable garden: Size the room so you still have space outdoors, not just a path to the door.
- Measure the access: Tell us the narrowest point between the street and the site. Our panels can be carried in by hand.
- Think about neighbours: Place windows and doors to face your own garden, not the fence line.
- Plan the services: Electrics are installed and certified by our partner electrical contractor and quoted separately after a site review.
